NANPA regularly allocates new number blocks based on demand for DNs around the country. As a result, service providers need to regularly update their switch translations to reflect changes to the list of NPA-NXXs that fall within their local calling area and LATA. This allows service providers to correctly bill their subscribers calls, and to make sure each number block is routed to the correct tandem – per the instructions in the LERG.
Some service providers have their own subscription to the LERG and make manual updates to their translations every time something changes, but if you are not comfortable making these changes, Award Consulting offers a service where we will update your switch translations based on the information in the latest version of the LERG.
Specifically, we will:
- Use the latest LERG database (published quarterly) to create file-based Number Validtion tables for all the NPA tables on your CFS.
- In these file-based NV tables, we will assign appropriate values for UDAs 1-6 to correctly assign local calling area, LATA and routing destinations based on the trunk group numbers assigned in your switch.
We will provide new config sets quarterly (typically in March, June, September and December – or shortly thereafter) when the LERG is refreshed. You are responsible for activating these new config sets and performing test calls to validate that everything is working as expected.
This service is provided as an annual subscription – for a fee of $7K/year for one Metaswitch Call Feature Server / Integrated Softswitch.
If you’re interested in learning more about the LERG and why it’s important, please check out this introductory article.
If you’re interested in signing up for our LERG Refresh service, please complete our Contact Form and we will send you a simple proposal to sign, or we can set up a call to review your translations and confirm whether you’re good to go.
Caveats
- If your switch is not already configured with the standard Metaswitch translations scheme we will not be able to perform this service. We would need to perform a custom professional service to convert your translations logic to support this service, for an additional fee.
- This service only covers refreshing the configuration for existing NPAs and local calling areas supported on your CFS. If you needed to expand your territory to cover new LCAs there would be an additional custom professional service fee.
